GLP-1 · Pharmacy Score
GLP-1 NHS access.
Can you get GLP-1 weight-loss medication on the NHS? Eligibility, the NICE guidance, waiting lists — and when private makes sense.
Some GLP-1 medicines are available on the NHS — with strict criteria and real waiting lists. Here's the current picture.
What NICE has approved
- Wegovy (semaglutide) — recommended under NICE TA875 within specialist weight-management services, for people meeting specific BMI and health criteria, usually for up to two years
- Mounjaro (tirzepatide) — recommended under NICE TA1026, rolling out in phases prioritised by clinical need
- Foundayo (orforglipron) — MHRA-licensed 10 August 2026; the NICE funding decision is expected in November 2026
The private reality
Many people who don't meet NHS criteria — or can't wait — use GPhC-registered private providers, paying the full cost. That's exactly where price comparison pays: Mounjaro, Wegovy, Wegovy pill and Foundayo all link to live price trackers.
Whichever route you take, the pharmacy check is identical: verify the GPhC registration before anything else.
