What it is

Foundayo is the brand name for orforglipron, Eli Lilly's once-daily GLP-1 tablet — and on 10 August 2026 the UK became the first country in Europe to license it. Unlike every GLP-1 before it, orforglipron is a small molecule, not a peptide — which is why it needs no injections, no fridge, and no fasting routine.

How it works

It activates the same GLP-1 receptor as injectable medicines, reducing appetite and slowing digestion — but its small-molecule chemistry survives digestion far better than peptide tablets. Take it once a day, with or without food. That simplicity is the point.

What the trials show

In ATTAIN-1, adults on the highest dose lost an average of 11.2% of body weight over 72 weeks. Below Mounjaro's headline figures, above placebo by a wide margin — and the UK licence also covers weight maintenance after injectable treatment and type 2 diabetes, making it the natural “step-down” tablet.

The doses

Six strengths — 0.8mg, 2.5mg, 5.5mg, 9mg, 14.5mg and 17.2mg — starting low and stepping up at intervals of at least a month, guided by a prescriber.

When can you actually get it?

Not quite yet on shelves: new approvals take a few weeks to filter through wholesalers to pharmacies. Pre-orders are open at some GPhC-registered providers, stock is expected to build over the coming weeks, and the NICE funding decision for NHS use is expected in November 2026. Manufacturing costs for small molecules run lower than peptides, so analysts expect competitive pricing — the live picture, the moment prices publish, is at Frayo.co.uk.

The honest caveats

Prescription-only, newer evidence base than semaglutide, and — being this year's headline medicine — an obvious target for counterfeit sellers. Verify any pharmacy on the GPhC register before parting with money; every provider in our directory links to its live register entry.
